The Cleveland medical examiner has determined that an 11-month-old baby died of blunt impact injuries to the head, neck, body and extremities. Police charged an 11-year-old family friend in the murder.
The baby, little Zuri Whitehead, was staying overnight at the home of her mother’s friend and was found unresponsive on February 6. Emergency services were called immediately, but the baby died in surgery later that day.
Authorities ruled the death a homicide.
Shockingly, Cuyahoga County authorities have now charged an 11-year-old girl for the murder. The girl is the daughter of the homeowner where the baby was staying. The 11-year-old is being held in a juvenile detention center while authorities determine her competence to stand trial.
