President Barack Obama calls Republican Senator Rand Paul an “interesting guy,” but ribbed him for trying to compete with Democrats on the South Side of Chicago.
“Rand Paul…” Obama began as some in the crowd groaned.
“No. Rand’s an interesting guy,” Obama replied as the audience of Democrats laughed.
Obama pointed to a policy memo from Paul suggesting that Republicans should visit the South Side of Chicago to remind them that Republicans offer a ticket to the middle class.
“I think that’s a good thing,” Obama said, reminding the audience that he himself was just visiting his former home on the South Side of Chicago.
“I guarantee you that Sen. Paul would be welcome there, we are a friendly bunch … we’re friendly, it would be ok.” he said, with a grin.
