An Encorse, Michigan, man was arrested and charged with abandonment, animal cruelty, and torture after his dog was found frozen to the ground last week.

The 10-year-old Chow-mix puppy was found outside the home of William Childress by a neighbor who heard the sounds of a dog in distress.

“I kept hearing (the dog), so I had to walk over there,” neighbor Marylou Rotrock told the media. “And I’m not one that goes over on other people’s property. Something told me I had to.”

When found, the dog had bleeding paws, frostbitten ears, and was frozen to the ground.

Childress was initially cited, but police went further and charged him with felony animal cruelty charges.
