Richard Martinez, father of Elliot Rodger’s victim Christopher Martinez, has redirected his gun control push to now claim that Campus Carry for concealed carry permit holders will endanger women.

Martinez testified against Campus Carry in Texas last month, but the measure was passed by the Senate and is now being considered by the Texas House.

But according to the Huffington Post, Martinez isn’t done fighting. He believes Campus Carry is a mistake wherever it is proposed. Marinez said, “The gun lobby solution to the gun violence problem is more guns — how can that make sense?”

He did not address the fact that “gun violence” on campuses happens because criminals carry guns into gun free zones. Republicans in Florida, Nevada, and Texas, among other states, argue that the only way to answer an armed criminal in a gun free zone is to make it legal for good guys with guys–concealed carry permit holders–to have their guns with them as well.

Republicans alsoargue that allowing women with concealed carry permits to carry on campus is a great way to prevent sexual assault. Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore (R-Las Vegas) put it best when she suggested that men bent on sexual assault would think twice if “young, hot little girls on campus have a firearm.”

Martinez counters that concealed carry permit holders could actually endanger women.

Martinez said: “I heard arguments about how [Campus Carry] will help women defend themselves against sexual assaults. Isn’t it more likely there will be more assaults at gunpoint?”
