Day of Silence: How the LGBT Agenda Is Hijacking America’s Youth

On Friday, April 17, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) will have thousands of public high school students, and increasing numbers of middle school students, remain silent throughout an entire school day to promote the militant LGBT agenda among young people.

“Silence can create change!”GLSEN states on its website, promoting the Day of Silence. “That’s why every year hundreds of thousands of students across the world take a vow of silence on a Friday in April. This quiet but powerful, student-led action raises awareness about the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying, harassment and discrimination.”

GLSEN’s website also asks students to submit “selfies for silence” for publication on the organization’s Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter pages.

“We can’t wait to learn about all the incredible ways you are working to end anti-LGBT bullying and harassment and look forward to seeing you connecting across the country through Selfies for Silence,” states GLSEN.

Many parents, family, and religious organizations, however, are pushing back against government-sponsored infiltration of schools with the sex-and gender-centered social and political philosophy. A national Day of Silence Walkout has been organized; parents are urged to keep their children home from schools if those schools allow students and/or teachers to refuse to speak during instructional time on the Day of Silence.

GLSEN was founded by gay activist and former Obama administration “Safe Schools Czar” Kevin Jennings, who currently serves as executive director of the Arcus Foundation, a powerful LGBT activist organization that aided President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign as a top bundler. Arcus, founded by billionaire and heir of the Stryker medical technology company, Jon Stryker, provides “social justice grants” to “support emerging LGBT leaders.”

Last September, Catholic San Francisco reported “abundant evidence” that the attack against San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone for his decision to speak during the March for Marriage in Washington, D.C., was orchestrated by the leftist Faithful America, which was funded by Stryker’s Arcus Foundation, LGBT activist Tim Gill of Colorado’s Gill Foundation, billionaire George Soros, and the Evelyn & Walter Haas Jr. Fund.

GLSEN’s website provides K-12 “educator resources” that include an “LGBT-inclusive curriculum” and lesson plans on topics such as how to celebrate “LGBT History Month” in classrooms and “ThinkB4YouSpeak,” a guide to LGBT politically correct language.

A history and English Language Arts lesson – reportedly aligned with the Common Core standards – is offered on the story of Matthew Shepard, a gay young man who was murdered years ago and who is an icon for militant LGBT groups. The story of Shepard’s murder, however, was debunked two years ago by investigative journalist Stephen Jimenez, who discovered that Shepard was not murdered by a stranger because he was gay, but rather by a fellow drug dealer with whom he often had sex.

“The explicit purpose of DOS is to encourage sympathy and support for students involved in homosexual and cross-dressing behaviors whose voices have been allegedly silenced by the disapproval of society,” state sponsors of the Day of Silence (DOS) Walkout. “The implicit purpose is to undermine the belief that homosexuality and cross-dressing are immoral. Parents should no longer passively countenance the political usurpation of public school classrooms through student silence.”

Supporters of the DOS Walkout are encouraging parents to call their children’s middle and high schools to determine if administration and/or teachers will be allowing students to remain silent during instructional time. If students are permitted to be silent when class is in session, parents are urged to have their children remain home from school that day.

DOS Walkout supporters add:

One oft-repeated mantra is that the goal of DOS is to keep LGBTQ students safe. The problematic rhetoric of “safety,” however, substitutes speciously for the more accurate term of “comfort.” To suggest that in order for those who self-identify as homosexual or “transgender” to be “safe,” no one may disapprove of homosexual conduct is both absurd and dangerous. If this definition of “safety” were to be applied consistently, virtually all statements of disapproval would be prohibited.

Supporters of the DOS Walkout include the American Family Association, Concerned Women of America, Faith, Family & Freedom Alliance, Liberty Counsel, and the Coalition of African-American Pastors (CAAP).

In an interview with Breitbart News, Rev. Bill Owens, president of CAAP, said, “What we would like to say is, instead, this will be a day of silent prayer.”

“The homosexual agenda intends to brainwash Americans into believing that homosexuality is alright, but it has become cult-like,” he said. “Let’s make it a day of silent prayer to promote Christianity and faith in general. What’s the difference?”

“Those of us who have our faith should be as vocal as those promoting the LGBT agenda – and they are using the same techniques as the Civil Rights Movement,” Owens added. “In fact, they have hijacked the Civil Rights Movement – a movement they know nothing about.”

“But this is yet another nail in the coffin of ‘we the people’ if we fail to act,” he continued. “Until we the people join together on the Day of Silence and oppose it, those who support the LGBT political agenda will know they own our youth.”

GLSEN lists Comcast/NBC, Colgate-Palmolive, Wells Fargo, Johnson & Johnson, Target, JP Morgan Chase, Kellogg’s, CitiBank, McDonald’s, UBS, State Farm Bank, the NBA, Morgan Stanley, Merck, Mattel, MassMutual, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Hilton, HBO, Google, Goldman Sachs, Facebook, and Disney/ABC as some of its corporate sponsors and partners.
