Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a possible Republican presidential candidate, weighed in on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s unanimous approval requiring President Obama to submit the Iran deal to Congress for final review.
AshLee Strong, the spokeswoman for Gov. Walker’s Our American Revival PAC, issued the following statement to Breitbart News: “Governor Walker believes it’s an important first step to block President Obama’s attempts to unilaterally implement a bad deal with Iran. The Governor supports Ron Johnson’s efforts to strengthen the bill.”
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) planned to offer an amendment to treat the Iran deal as a treaty. It would have prohibited the agreement from being implemented until two-thirds of the Senate approved it, according to The Daily Signal.
However, the compromise deal passed without including Johnson’s amendment or another amendment offered from Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY).
