Freddie Gray’s father spoke at a press conference following the announcement that six police offices will face criminal charges after his son died while in police custody, saying the family is “satisfied with today’s charges.”
Freddie Gray’s father also called for peace, saying the last thing Freddie would want is to see the hard working people of Baltimore lose jobs and their businesses because of his death.
“We ask that whoever comes to our city, a city we love and a city that we live in, come in peace, and if you are not coming in peace, don’t come at all,” he added.
Bill Murphy, attorney for the Gray family, also spoke to reporters. He said the last three weeks have been the worst in the family’s history, and today gave the family hope.
He called for police body cameras and better training within the police department.
Murphy complimented the prosecutor for pursuing the criminal charges.
“They have our gratitude in their pursuit of justice,” said Murphy.
