Trump Addresses Critics on His ‘Traditional Marriage’ Stance

GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump says he is for “traditional marriage” when he’s questioned about same-sex marriage and, most recently, the Supreme Court decision-making same-sex marriages legal in all 50 states.

On Sunday Trump joined CNN’s “State of the Union” with host Jake Tapper, who asked Trump if he has a response to criticisms over his stance on “traditional marriage” when he has been married three times.

“What do you say to a lesbian who’s married, or a gay man who is married, who says, ‘Donald Trump, what’s traditional about being married three times?'” Tapper asked.

Instead of arguing with the question, Trump said the critics would “have a very good point.”

Trump blamed his divorces on his career – saying he worked too much.

He spoke of his ex-wives positively, saying they “were very good” and he has “a great marriage” now.

“I blame myself because my business was so powerful for me,” said Trump. “I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.”

Tapper followed up with his question.

“I really don’t say anything,” Trump answered. “I am just, Jake, I’m for traditional marriage.”

Trump also criticized President Bush-appointed Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who dissented from the same-sex marriage ruling after being on the opposite side – with liberal justices – upholding a key part of Obamacare for the second time.
