A parade of hundreds of Arkansans gathered to show support of the Confederate flag in the face of mounting media criticism of the banner.
The large parade of citizens flying the flag from their vehicles said that their flag was being misrepresented.
Conway, Arkansas resident Brandon Wilson said that the flag only represent southern pride.
“It’s been misconstrued by a lot of hate groups over the years,” Wilson told Fox 16.
“I think if it’s part of a state flag, leave it,” Wilson added. “We’ve gotten to the point now where everything has got to be so politically correct, instead of being human being.”
The events are being called “Rebel Rides” and were organized all across Arkansas. One group organized their event in Russellville, Arkansas in Pope County in northern Arkansas. The Russellville organizers said on their Facebook page that their flag represented their heritage.
