President Obama finally made it back to Kenya, the first time since he visited as a Illinois State Senator in 2006.

Obama was greeted by his half-sister Auma Obama, according to the White House pool report and a group of dignitaries who gathered at the airport.

A red carpet was rolled out one the runway for his arrival as one little girl wearing a white dress curtsied and gave him a bouquet of flowers.

Auma Obama has authored a book about her life growing up apart from her brother, but kept in contact with him as they grew older, even visiting him in Chicago in 1980.

It was then she told the president that his father and mother secretly kept in contact through letters, while he was a child growing up in Hawaii.

She was interviewed by the Today Show in 2012, sharing an excerpt of her book.
