Fiorina Channels Margaret Thatcher: ‘I Am Not Content to Manage the Decline of a Great Nation’

GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina came out swinging on foreign policy at the candidate forum in New Hampshire Monday night hosted by C-SPAN and the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Fiorina said the Obama Administration has been providing Americans with a “false choice” especially regarding the deal with Iran.

“Either you agree with what I’m doing or not doing – or the option is to go to war,” Fiorina mocked.

“There are many things we could and should be doing. First, we must have the strongest military on the face of the planet and everyone has to know it,” she touted.

Fiorina said on her first day as president of the United States she would make two phone calls. The first would be to Benjamin Netanyahu letting him know that America will stand with Israel.

The second call would be to the supreme leader of Iran. “Realistically, he would not take my call,” Fiorina joked, adding he would get her message that until and unless he permits anytime, anywhere inspections, America would make it hard for Iran to move money around the global financial system.

“Knowing more world leaders on the stage than anyone running – with the exception of Hillary Clinton, although I didn’t do any photo ops – I know that our allies need a message from us that we will stand with them, and our adversaries need a message from us as well, ‘we will confront you,’” Fiorina challenged.

Fiorina also said she knows the king of Jordan, the Saudi royal family. She referenced the Egyptians, Kurds, Kuwaitis, saying, “All of these people know ISIS is their fight.”

“Ask them what they need from us,” she said. “We need to show leadership… or our allies will lose courage.”

In her final 30 seconds to address the audience at the forum, Fiorina said, “I started out as a secretary in a little nine person real estate firm, went on to lead the largest technology company in the world and now I’m running for the presidency of the United States – my story is only possible in America”.

She added that the nation is at a pivotal time and “the political class has let you down.”

“Margaret Thatcher once said, ‘I am not content to manage the decline of a great nation’ – neither am I,” she stated.
