Florida to Make Marriage Licenses ‘Gender Neutral’

On Monday, the Florida Department of Health announced that, from this point forward, all marriage licenses will eliminate gender-specific language to better fit the new era of gay marriage.

The state’s Bureau of Vital Statistics announced that, starting Monday, marriage certificates and license applications will replace “bride” and “groom” with “spouse” and “spouse.”

The agency is making the change in order to avoid costly lawsuits by militant activists seeking to force the state to approve of the gay lifestyle at all levels.

The Sunshine State is also facing a lawsuit because state-issued birth certificates allow only one person’s name to be identified as a child’s mother. A lesbian couple in St. Petersburg is suing to force the state to add a second spot for “two mothers” on future birth certificates.
