A North Carolina woman was arrested and charged with “malicious castration” after biting her boyfriend’s testicles and severely injuring him during an argument, police say.
After the attack, Martinne Patricia Delavega, 51, was arrested and charged with malicious castration as well as assault causing serious bodily injury.
According to the mugshot released by the Onslow County Sheriff’s department, the Jacksonville woman also clearly suffered some injuries when her boyfriend fought back to stop her from mauling him.
According to the Jacksonville, NC, ABC affiliate, WCTI Channel 12, a friend of the woman is shocked by her actions.
“I’ve known her half of my life. She’s a great person and mother and this is totally out of character. There has to be something else going on,” family friend Zach Walter said.
The victim had permanent damage to his genitals and is not being identified to protect his privacy.
Delavega was released on a $10,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing October 1.
