On the night of September 15/16 two men allegedly robbed an off-duty Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Deputy of his badge at gunpoint in Cleveland, Ohio.

CBS 19 News reports that the deputy had just pulled into his driveway when the two suspects allegedly confronted him, demanding his phone and his wallet.

ABC 5 reports that the deputy “complied” with the suspects’s demands. Then, “when the men got ‘too close’ to the deputy, he attempted to grab the gun from one of [them]” and a shot was fired. The gun was aimed down when the shot rang out so the bullet hit the driveway–there were no injuries.

The suspects fled after the gun discharged.
