A Painesville, Ohio father, fed up with the Common Core standards’ method of teaching math to students, decided to get even, writing a check to the school using the x and o system of Common core, rendering the check inexplicable to the bank.

The check, shown at Buzzfeed, has the man’s last name mostly redacted, so all that can be seen is Douglas A. H****, while his wife’s name was redacted to Marlo K. H***. Where the amount of the check should be written, a series of O’s in boxes are followed by X’s and O’s. The check is made out to Melridge Elementary School.

The Common Core Math Curriculum has been implemented in 46 states. Indiana, Minnesota, Oklahoma and South Carolina have refused to adopt them.
