New York police arrested the mother of a newborn for killing the baby by throwing her out a 7th-story window, reports revealed on Tuesday.

Police say that the woman hid her pregnancy from her boyfriend, and after giving birth in her Bronx apartment, she tried to dispose of the baby by tossing her out the window.

An autopsy on the tiny body revealed that the baby died from blunt force trauma from hitting the ground and was alive when she was thrown out the window.

Police say that they questioned the 33-year-old woman and arrested her on Tuesday on charges of second-degree murder.

The boyfriend claimed that he never knew of the child’s birth and also wasn’t aware that his girlfriend had thrown the baby out the window. He told police he had thought she had an abortion.

It was unclear how much time had passed between the baby’s birth and her murder, but police reported that the child’s umbilical cord was still attached.

This isn’t the first recent incident of a child being thrown out of a window in New York. Early in August, a 1-month-old was thrown to his death from a fourth-story window in Queens.
