Ben Carson Won’t Rule Out Donald Trump As Running Mate

GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson said Oct. 9 that he wouldn’t rule out sharing a ticket with GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, saying Trump has brought “enthusiasm” to the primary.

Carson spoke at the National Press Club, where he was promoting his new book, A More Perfect Union, when a member of the audience asked if he would consider being a running mate with Trump.

Carson chuckled and said the press will have a “field day” with that question.

“I believe Donald Trump has been very useful,” Carson said, explaining that Trump has brought enthusiasm into the GOP primary. “That’s a good thing.”

But “I don’t talk about him,” Carson stated, adding that he won’t talk about any of the GOP candidates.

Carson said that if he were the GOP nominee, he would want a Vice-President who is “compatible” with him and “understands the urgency” needed to save the country from an overreaching government.

According to a survey of poll by Real Clear Politics, Carson is ranked second place among the GOP candidates. He’s behind Trump by six points.
