White House press secretary Josh Earnest consistently vows that President Obama would veto a bill from House Republicans that fully defunds Planned Parenthood. But he remained open to the idea that Obama might sign a bill that partially defunds the abortion corporation.

When asked by Breitbart News if Obama would veto a partial defunding of the organization, he indicated that the administration would take a “dim view” of such a a bill, but repeated that Obama would veto a “wholesale” defunding bill of Planned Parenthood.

Earnest declined to address reports that Planned Parenthood had decided to stop taking financial reimbursement for fetal tissue for medical research, referring questions about their decision to the organization itself.

He added that lawfully, it was illegal for taxpayer dollars to be used to fund abortions, suggesting that the millions of federal dollars to Planned Parenthood was not a moral issue.

“This rhetoric emanating from Republicans about wanting to defund Planned Parenthood because Planned Parenthood carries out abortions is fundamentally dishonest,” Earnest said, claiming it wasn’t in the “best interests of the country” to threaten to shut down the government on that issue.
