Carly Fiorina told those gathered at a presidential forum at a church in north Texas on Sunday, “We need a leader that will point things out to the American people.” She condemned the present administration for being silent as Christians are being persecuted, and she said she has been able to influence how Planned Parenthood and their activities are viewed.
Fiorina told the crowd and those watching online, that the essence of leadership is to serve others. She said the nation needs a “fearless fighter” who will encourage others while lifting up everyone in the nation.
Fiorina told the crowd gathered at the North Texas Presidential Forum at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, that we are winning the fight against Planned Parenthood.
The presidential candidate has been under heavy fire from women’s groups, Democrats, liberals, and pro-abortionists, especially after the second Republican presidential debate.
Fiorina issued this challenge at that September debate – “[A]nyone who has watched this videotape, I dare Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama to watch these tapes. Watch a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking while someone says, ‘We have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.’ This is about the character of our nation, and if we will not stand up and force President Obama to veto this bill, shame on us.”
Opponents of the candidate, and of her assertion, responded that there was no truth to her claim. The Carly Fiorina PAC produced a video that proved her assertion.
Fiorina told Dr. Jack Graham, the pastor of the 40,000 member church that she has been called a “disaster” by women and women’s groups. The only female candidate running as a Republican candidate said she attended an event where pro-abortion supporters threw condoms at her. Breitbart News reported that Planned Parenthood paid supporters to heckle the candidate during an Iowa Hawkeye tailgate in late September.
Fiorina said at the presidential forum on Sunday that although the role of faith in public life is subject to debate, people of faith make better leaders. She explained that they make better leaders because faith gives the humility necessary to believe that we are all made in the eyes of God. She said that humility and empathy is essential to encourage others forward and to be an effective leader. She said faith also gives one optimism to lead and encourage others. She added that “we need more prayer in public life.”
Fiorina said, “I have been tested. My faith has been tested.” She explained that she had lost a child, and has had to battle breast cancer. She said it is her family and her personal relationship with Jesus Christ that got her through this fight, and that will strengthen her as president.
She used Lady Liberty and Lady Justice as illustrations of standing strong and being a beacon of hope to the world. Like Lady Justice that holds a sword, she said she will be a warrior, but will remember that all of us are equal and can use their God-given talents to succeed.
“We are going to have to talk to people who don’t yet know they agree with us.” She said that over 50 percent do not believe in abortion for any reason after five months.
Fiorina also said we are going to have to highlight the difference between progressives and conservatives.
The speakers who were confirmed to participate in the event were Texas Senator Ted Cruz, former governors Jeb Bush and Mike Huckabee, Carly Fiorina, Dr. Ben Carson, and former senator Rick Santorum.
