Blue State Blues: The Left is Hounding a Liberal Black Lesbian off TV

Leftists are flocking to sign a Change.org petition to have Raven-Symoné Christina Pearman kicked off ABC’s The View for the crime of having, you know… a view.

As of this writing, the petition has over 85,000 signatures.

Raven-Symoné is a liberal black lesbian, which is normally enough to inoculate anyone against anything. But this time, she stepped on The Narrative, defending a white cop who got rough with a black girl in a South Carolina high school.

Actually, she didn’t. She said:

The FBI is investigating. First of all, I think we heard about this story. The girl was told multiple times to get off the phone. There’s no right or reason for him to be doing this type of harm. That’s ridiculous. But at the same time, you’ve got to follow the rules in school. First of all, why are there cell phones in school? This shouldn’t even be a problem to begin with, and he shouldn’t have been acting like that, on top of it.

Raven-Symoné went on to note that the officer had a troubled past. “He has a record and he’s still hired, but at the same time, get off your phone! You are in school. You’re in school, get off your phone! What are you doing on Instagram?”

There were “two wrongs,” she said. Shock! Horror!

Raven-Symoné did not even make her remarks on the main show, but on the online after-show. That did not save her from the left’s Thought Police, however.

The petition accuses Raven-Symoné of being an Aunt Jemima (a female Uncle Tom):

African Americans and black people around the diaspora need a voice representative of their views and not a voice representative of what white people want us to say. We need strong black rolemodels in prominent positions on television an [sic] Raven Symone cannot provide that. That is why I ask that we petition to remove her from The View.

The same charge was echoed by the black icon known as Perez Hilton, a.k.a. the Hispanic gay gossip blogger Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr., who famously called Miss California a “dumb bitch” in 2009 for supporting traditional marriage (just like Barack Obama).

Hilton and other critics have a list of complaints against Raven-Symoné, including her recent statement that she would not hire someone with a “ghetto” name like “Watermelondrea.”

The name came from a viral comedy video with made-up names like “Fri’Chickenisha.” The Thought Police do not laugh.

Note that Raven-Symoné receives no credit for standing up for the leftist line on other occasions, such as when she attempted to accuse Ann Coulter of exploiting bigotry. Nor did her past support for gay marriage matter to the Thought Police. She dissented one too many times; she has to go.

But again: Raven-Symoné did not say the Spring Valley cop was right, or that he should go unpunished. She merely said the student had contributed to the situation, which is what local officials had said as well.

Raven-Symoné is guilty, in other words, of common sense.

A (black) friend of mine published this on Facebook:

All I know is that if I was cutting up in class and being belligerent towards authority figures, my mother would have been up to that school in a heartbeat and would have thanked that officer, teacher and principal and would have given them permission to do the same thing again if I ever cut up in class like that again. And then when we got home…‪

Never mind that. Perez Hilton, says that Raven-Symoné “had it coming” and should be kicked off TV because she “keeps failing to support her community when she has such a public platform to potentially do good.”

To the left, minorities have to follow the party line. Only white people, apparently, are allowed a view on The View. (Maybe.)
