WASHINGTON – Congressional Democrats are battling to force the Obama administration to release the actual text of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) “Obamatrade” trade deal.
Democratic Reps. Rosa DeLauro and Lloyd Doggett visited Capitol Hill with a dog named Roxy the Bloodhound, saying that the dog will help them sniff out the details of the agreement.
Big Labor’s opposition to the deal caused Hillary Clinton, who helped design the TPP agreement, to recently come out against it.
“I’ve asked privately. I’ve asked publicly. I’ve asked nicely. I’ve asked please. Pretty please. Pretty please with sugar on it. And then not so nicely. But nothing seems to be able to change the culture of secrecy that pervades [the Office of the United States Trade Representative,” Doggett said.
“There is a smell about this agreement and all the secrecy,” Doggett said.
Doggett added that the dog “will probably take us down K Street, where they know a little bit more about this agreement than the elected representatives and the people do.”
