Chris Christie: ‘I Would Not Permit’ More Syrian Refugees

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie stated that he would not allow any more Syrian refugees into America, based on a lack of trust for Obama to properly screen them.

“I do not trust this administration to effectively vet the people who are proposed to be coming in, in order to protect the safety and security of the American people, so I would not permit them in,” he stated during an interview this evening with radio host Hugh Hewitt.

Hewitt asked the governor if he would permit “orphans under the age of five,” but Christie resisted.

“We can come up with 18 different scenarios,” he replied. “The fact is that we need appropriate vetting, and I don’t think orphans under five are being, you know, should be admitted into the United States at this point. But you know, they have no family here. How are we going to care for these folks?”

Christie repeated that he didn’t trust the Obama administration to properly vet any of the Syrian refugees.

“We need to put the safety and security of the American people first,” he said.

Christie criticized Obama for failing to come up with an effective strategy to fight ISIS, pointing out that his failure in the region was causing the refugee problem.

“This is a president who is living in a fantasy land. He sees the world as he wishes it were, not as it truly is,” he said.
