Rep. Steve King (R-IA) says the argument made by the left and by GOP leadership – particularly Speaker of the House Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) – that America shouldn’t stop letting Syrian refugees into the country because “that’s just not who we are” is “not supported by logic or rational.”

“Once you get a little deeper into that, there’s no depth into that,” King told Breitbart News Daily on SiriusXM with host Stephen K. Bannon. King adds they use that same argument when someone argues the need to secure the border so not to let illegal immigrants into the country.

“We shouldn’t be a suicidal nation,” King proclaimed. He added that, “It’s insulting to America” when people say our country isn’t doing enough for the refugees. “America has done more than any other country in the world.”

“We have a right to protect our borders” and “our culture and our civilization,” King stressed.

“Europe is committing cultural suicide” by having migrants pour in that don’t share their cultural values, King explained. “They’re a dying civilization.”

He added, “They define survival of their country as replacing themselves with people that do not share their values.”

King said he wasn’t sure GOP leadership would fight to defund the Syrian refugee resettlement program in December with the spending bill.

“I think the votes are there, but leadership has to be there,” he said. “I’m not particularly optimistic we’re going to get this done.”

King encourages constituents to call their members of Congress and discuss the importance of defunding the Syrian refugee program.
