GOP presidential candidate former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is resting after surgery on his knee Wednesday morning, one day before Thanksgiving.

The presidential candidate had bone chips around his knee from an incident roughly three weeks ago where his knee popped as he was walking through an airport in South Carolina.

He stood through the previous Wisconsin debate in pain without having taken pain medicine so he could think clearly and quickly.

Huckabee is now resting after undergoing the knee surgery in Little Rock.

“Governor Huckabee has pushed hard through a rigorous campaign schedule over the last three weeks since his knee injury took place,” Huckabee’s spokesperson Alice Stewart stated. “While he was hoping to go duck hunting, he is using the Thanksgiving holiday as a time to have surgery, spend time with his family and recover before hitting the campaign trail hard again on Monday.”
