New York City police officials are reporting that subway sex crimes have skyrocketed this year by roughly 15 percent.
In the past five months, 699 instances were reported, up by 106 instances for the same period last year.
According to police officials, the most common offenses are forcible touching, lewdness and what they call unwanted surveillance.
For example, one woman told the New York Post that she saw a homeless guy masturbating on the R train last summer. A “level 3” sex offender was caught on camera grabbing women on trains and platforms.
New Yorkers have also noticed a marked increase in homeless people on the streets. And, according to Mayor Bill DeBlasio’s own new “management report”, the number of homeless will increase to 3,350 in 2016. This would show an increase of more than 700 people in the past five years.
Most New Yorkers are too young to remember the dark times when the city was ruled by successive liberal mayors who drove the city into bankruptcy and turned the streets and subways over to petty and not-so-petty criminals. Such prospects may be creeping back under the most leftist mayor New York has likely seen.
