FBI: November Was Seventh Consecutive Month of Record Background Checks

The FBI reports that November was the seventh consecutive month of record-breaking background checks.

In other words, while Democrats and their willing surrogates in the gun control movement are busy maligning guns and inventing ways to make them more difficult to acquire, the American people are busy purchasing the firearms they need for self-defense, hunting, and plinking.

According to the FBI, 2,243,030 background checks were conducted on firearm purchasers in November 2015. The previous November record was 2,006,919, set in November 2013.

The record-breaking trend began in May, when there were 1,580,980 background checks. That represented the highest number for a May on record. In June, the figure was 1,529,057–the highest June on record. And it went up from there. July was 1,600,832; August was 1,745,410; September was 1,795,102; and October was 1,976,759–the highest July, August, September, and October on record.

The tremendous number of November background checks was given an exclamation point on November 27, when Black Friday background checks “shattered [the] single day record.” According to The Trace, FBI spokesman Stephen Fischer said, “Black Friday [2015] shattered the single-day record with 185,345 background checks processed in a 24-hour period–or slightly more than two background-checks every second.”

The previous Black Friday record, set in 2014, was just over 175,000 background checks. The previous single-day record, set December 21, 2012, was approximately 177,000 checks.
