GOP frontrunner Donald Trump responded to reports on Thursday that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is planning deportation raids next year to remove hundreds of illegal immigrants from the country, saying, “It’s about time!”
The real estate mogul posted on Twitter:
Wow, because of the pressure put on by me, ICE TO LAUNCH LARGE SCALE DEPORTATION RAIDS. It’s about time!

The Hill reports that the raid by the DHS will be “the first large-scale deportation attempt since tens of thousands fled violence in Central America.”
Trump has made illegal immigration a top issue during his presidential campaign, vowing to build a wall across the southern border.
“They’re sending people who have a lot of problems,” Trump stated about illegal immigration during his campaign launch. “They bring in drugs, they bring in crime, they’re rapists. I assume some are good people.”
