GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina commented on the recent sexual assaults against women in Cologne, Germany allegedly committed by Middle Eastern refugees.
“Obviously, people are entering into Germany who do not have the same standards for how women should be treated as the German citizenry, and so the German citizenry is understandably outraged in demanding a different policy from their chancellor,” Fiorina told Breitbart News.
More than 100 women have said they were sexually assaulted on New Year’s Eve in Germany. According to the Huffington Post, the police described the perpetrators as being from “the Arab or North African region.”
CNN reports that at “least 31 people, most from North African or Middle Eastern countries, have been charged so far over the attacks, police say. Of those, 18 have been identified as asylum seekers.”
Breitbart News asked Fiorina if that should be a warning call for the United States’ plans for receiving more Syrian refugees as ordered by the Obama administration.
“Yes, in the sense that we must know who is coming into this country,” Fiorina responded. “That’s why I’ve said we shouldn’t be be letting any Syrian refugees into the country until we know we can adequately vet them, and our own government has told us we cannot adequately vet them; therefore, we cannot let them in.”
