Donald Trump: Ted Cruz Flip Flopped On Birthright Citizenship, ‘Which Cruz Will You Choose?’

GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, along with his campaign manager, shared a video on Twitter on Tuesday, which portrays fellow GOP candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) as having flip-flopped on birthright citizenship.

CNN reports:

The video, from the YouTube channel “Real Americans 4 Real Presidents,” which is not affiliated with the Trump campaign, highlights an apparent contrast between Cruz’s support for the policy in 2011 — when he said it was a “mistake” to try to fight birthright citizenship — and comments he made in 2015, insisting he has opposed it “for many years.”

The video portrays Cruz in his 2011 senate campaign saying that arguments against birthright citizenship in the 14th Amendment “aren’t very good.”

“As much as someone may dislike the policy of birthright citizenship, it’s in the U.S. Constitution,” Cruz stated.

The video then cuts to 2015 when Cruz expresses opposition to birthright citizenship after Trump brought the topic – and the use of the word anchor baby – to the forefront during his presidential campaign.

“So (Trump) recently came out against birthright citizenship. I’ve had that position for many years, back in 2011 when I was running for the U.S. Senate,” stated Cruz. “I said very explicitly then, we should end birthright citizenship, and I still think that’s the right position.”

The video then ends with the text, “Which Cruz will you choose?”

Trump’s criticism of Cruz’s alleged flip flop on birthright citizenship comes as the two have been trading blows and after Cruz said Trump was “rattled” yesterday.
