TSA: Nearly 2,700 Guns Confiscated From People Boarding Flights In 2015

The Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) reports that nearly 2,700 guns were confiscated from the carry-on bags of individuals boarding planes in 2015.

The actual number–2,653.

And according to ABC 15, over 2,000 of those guns were loaded.

The figure of 2,653 represents a “20 percent increase from the 2,212 firearms that were confiscated in 2014.” Moreover, the firearms were discovered “at 236 airports across the country, 12 more airports than 2014.”

The top five airports for firearm seizure: Dallas/Forth Worth International Airport (153), Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (144), George Bush Intercontinental Airport – Houston (100), Denver International Airport (90), and Phoenix Sky Harbor (73).

TSA also indicated that “it screened over 708 million passengers — or about 1.9 million each day — throughout [2015], an increase in 40 million passengers from 2014.”
