Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson blasted Democrats and the Supreme Court Friday, saying that “they want to negate our faith” and are “overturning what the Bible says.”

Speaking in South Carolina at the Faith and Family Presidential Forum, Carson went after SCOTUS over its Obergefell v. Hodges decision, which legalized same-sex marriage in America.

“Gay marriage. I think that was a real problem,” Carson said when asked what specific SCOTUS decision he disagreed with. “I have a problem with overturning what the Bible says.”

“They want to negate our faith in this country,” Carson added.

Carson argued that voting in this next presidential election is important, especially because the next president may have the chance to nominate up to four new Supreme Court justices.

“When you don’t vote–you vote,” Carson said. “But you’re voting for the other side. If we vote for the other side, and they get three or four Supreme Court picks, we just put a dagger in the heart of our children and grandchildren.”

“Everybody, according to our Constitution, should be treated equally…but nobody gets extra rights. Nobody gets a right to redefine everything for everybody else and then make them conform to that,” Carson said.

“Right now in America there are people, people of faith, who believe that marriage is between one man and one woman and they live their lives according to that faith, who are being prosecuted.”
