Bob Dole Endorses Marco Rubio; Snubs John Kasich

Retired Sen. Bob Dole, the Republican presidential candidate who failed against Bill Clinton in 1996, is endorsing Sen. Marco Rubio now that Dole’s first choice, Jeb Bush, has exited the race.

“Now that my good friend Jeb Bush is no longer running, I’m supporting Rubio,” Dole told ABC’s Jonathan Karl and Rick Klein in an interview.

Dole recalled that Rubio worked for Dole in Florida, calling him a “hard worker” and citied his youth as a reason to support him.

But the senior leader of the Republican establishment snubbed Rubio rival Ohio Governor John Kasich and even took a shot at Ted Cruz.

“As much as I love John Kasich, you know, Rubio is probably a better candidate. And he’s young,” Dole said. “He wants to grow the party as opposed to Cruz — I don’t know what he wants to grow.”
