On March 8, a alleged intruder with a gun in his waistband and a sock on his right hand was shot and killed by a resident at Hickory Point Apartments in Nashville, TN.

The incident occurred just before midnight.

According to News Channel 5, an unnamed 27-year-old resident said he awoke to “a loud banging noise outside his window.” He saw that 21-year-old Francisco Rodriguez was allegedly “kicking in his backdoor” to gain entry, so he called 911, grabbed his handgun, and retreated to his bedroom.

After Rodriguez allegedly made entry into the apartment, he came to the bedroom and was opening the door when the resident told him to “freeze.” Instead of complying, Rodriguez allegedly “reached for his waistband,” so the resident opened fire.

Police say Rodriguez then turned to flee the scene but collapsed just outside the apartment door where he died from a single gunshot wound. Police found a pistol in Rodriguez’s front pocket and also noted that he was “wearing a sock on his right hand.”

The resident faces no charges in the incident.
