Four men living in Utah have been arrested and charged with gang raping and sodomizing a nine-year-old girl while the child’s mother smoked meth in the next room on Easter Day this year.
After several weeks of investigating, police in Vernal, Utah, arrested brothers Jerry and Randall Flatlip and Josiah and Lasron RonDeau for the abuse of the child.
According to the child’s mother, she left the girl asleep on a couch and went into the home’s garage with another person to get high on methamphetamine. When she returned, she found the child distressed and with her clothing in disarray.
The victim’s mother told police that the next day the child asserted the four suspects had taken her to a bedroom and raped and sodomized her one after the other. The girl also testified that the men told her to remain quiet or they would kill her.
Police reported that evidence, including bloody and soiled bed sheets, were taken from the home after the mother filed charges.
The first arrested was Larson RonDeau, 36, taken in after the child identified him as one of the attackers. RonDeau then told police the identities of the other three men and they were also arrested.
Police also found drug residue and paraphernalia at the home where the attack allegedly occurred.
The child is now under the care of the state as the investigation continues.
All four men have been booked on one count each of rape of a child and sodomy of a child. Both charges are first-degree felonies.
The victim’s grandmother recently spoke out, calling for justice for her granddaughter.
“I want justice taken care of. I want hardcore punishment for what they have done to this child, because that shouldn’t happen to anybody,” a woman identified only as Elizabeth told Fox 13 in Salt Lake City.
“They need to understand: You do not let people like that get away with anything,” she added.
