Scarborough Rips GOP Establishment: Have ‘Wasted Billions’ Over Last 20 Years on ‘Losers’ They Are More ‘Comfortable With’

Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough criticized the Republican Party establishment for its track record in selecting which candidate to line up behind in a Republican Party primary.

Scarborough specifically focused on establishment’s apparent decision to line up behind Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) instead of Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) as the alternative to the party front-runner Donald Trump, but said the problem goes back much further than this election.

“I mean, they could have picked John Kasich at one point, or Ted Cruz … but you only had two choices – Ted Cruz or John Kasich and for some really weird reason – I’m talking about the Republican establishment – for some bizarre reason the Republican establishment did not select the guy who had been the first Budget chairman in a generation to balance the budget, the first Budget chairman since the 1920s to balance the budget four years in a row, a successful two-term popular governor of Ohio, the most important swing state for Republicans now to win. And they go with Ted Cruz, the Republican establishment, instead of John Kasich.”

“[The establishment] has a lot of guys and some women with a lot of money who constantly pick losers,” he added. “These people have wasted billions of dollars over the past 20 years giving money to losers who they are more comfortable with.”
