White House Chief of Staff Valerie Jarrett says that she doesn’t use the “n word” — a term used by comedian Larry Wilmore while praising President Obama during his speech at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
Jarrett was questioned about her feelings about the use of the word at the White House during an interview with Kari Lake of FOX 10 Phoenix.
“Well, it’s not a word I use,” Jarrett said. “But everybody gets to make their own decisions about what they say.”
Jarrett was reluctant to discuss the issue further.
“I think that it was hard to … it was unusual for a comic to talk in such personal terms about the president of the United States,” she said, adding that it was a “big platform” for a comedian, but also a “risky platform.”
Yesterday, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest defended the use of the word, noting that the president “appreciated the spirit” of the comedy sketch.
