Wisconsin Congressman Sean Duffy told Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM host Stephen K. Bannon he believes Donald Trump has the “template for the conservative movement.”
He said:
People believe you have to secure the border, whether you’re doing it with a wall that keeps getting higher because of the crazy things the Mexicans say, if you go that Donald Trump route, whatever route you go, everyone agrees in our movement that you have to secure the border.
While acknowledging that there may be some honest disagreement between some Hill Republicans like Paul Ryan and Trump, on trade for example, Duffy sees plenty of common ground and room for compromise with a critical need to keep the focus on Hillary Clinton, whom Duffy said “is such an absolute disaster.”
Continued Duffy:
It comes down to the simple idea that government has grown substantially under Barack Obama, and government has been a failure in American’s lives, and Hillary Clinton wants to grow government even further. I think Donald Trump wants to restrain government and shrink government. I think Donald Trump believes in defeating ISIS, resolving issues in the Middle East. I think Hillary Clinton will double down on the Iran deal. … And I think a businessman who has created hundreds of thousands of jobs for Americans knows better how to restructure the tax code and restructure regulations to let business thrive. … He understands that far better than Hillary Clinton, who has spent her whole life in government.
As for some of the resistance to Trump, Duffy said:
The bottom line is, there’re a lot of conservatives that don’t feel Donald Trump is conservative, right? Or, he’s not their brand of conservatism … and there’s a lot of people who don’t have a seat on the inside, who used to have a seat on the inside. No matter who those 16 candidates would have been, this establishment group would have had a seat on the inside of those presidential campaigns and that presidency. They don’t have that with Donald Trump. And they’re probably a little angry about that.
Concerning Trump’s upcoming meeting with Speaker Ryan, Duffy stated, “I think this is going to be a really good meeting, and I think this is so necessary for the party.”
