Planned Parenthood Sued Over Colorado Shooting For Lack of Security

Both the widow of a victim fatally shot and a woman who herself was wounded at a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado Springs are suing the abortion business for failing to provide adequate security, such as armed guards, that they say could have prevented a shooting rampage by a mentally deranged man.

The lawsuit argues that Planned Parenthood should have had protections in place that would have stopped Robert Dear’s shooting spree that left three people dead and nine wounded in November of 2015, reports Reuters.

The widow of Ke’ Arere Stewart and Samantha Wagner, who was shot in the arm, are accusing the abortion business of being responsible for the attack due to negligence, in a lawsuit filed in Denver District Court on Friday.

According to the lawsuit, the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood failed “to employ and have present at the time of the shootings at the PPH CLINIC properly trained armed security guards, both outside the PPH CLINIC and within…”

Stewart is suing for the wrongful death of her husband and Wagner is asking the court for monetary compensation to pay for medical bills and “permanent physical impairment.”

“We believe that our health centers throughout the region are both safe and inviting for our patients and our staff who care for them,” Whitney Phillips, a spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood, said.

Though Planned Parenthood and its media supporters attempted to immediately blame the horrific shooting at the abortion facility on pro-lifers, referring to them as “extremists” engaged in “domestic terrorism,” Dear was found to be mentally incompetent two weeks ago by Judge Gilbert Martinez and was sent to a state psychiatric facility, reports Fox News.

Two psychologists who evaluated Dear said he had a delusional disorder, concluding he suffers from “widespread and long-running delusions that shaped his view of reality.” Dear reportedly believed the FBI had been following him for years and that the judge and his own defense attorneys were conspiring to keep him quiet.

Dear’s paranoid delusions also led him to live in a trailer with no electricity in the mountains of Colorado so he could be left alone. He reportedly also believes his longtime girlfriend had become a government spy.

“He cannot trust anyone, basically,” testified Thomas Gray, one of the psychologists who evaluated Dear. “He’s quick to include anyone into that list of suspect individuals.”

Immediately after the shootings, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains released a statement via Twitter, which said, “Extremists are creating a poisonous environment that feeds domestic terrorism in this country.”
