Shocking footage showing a Telemundo reporter being violently assaulted during a live broadcast has gone viral on social media.
Telemundo reporter Iris Delgado was nearing the end of her coverage of a report outside City Hall in Philadelphia on Wednesday night when a woman walked up to her, cameras still rolling.
“Excuse me, excuse me,” the mysterious woman said to Delgado, who failed to acknowledge her.
Seconds later, the woman is seen snatching the back of Delgado’s head before she began punching the reporter in the face.
The live feed quickly cut away, sending the broadcast back to the studio where a flabbergasted Telemundo anchor, Ramon Zayas, could be heard saying “Ay, Dios Mio!”
Philadelphia police said 37-year-old Philadelphia resident Waheedah Wilson was arrested on Wednesday night. Wilson was charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment.
In a statement, Telemundo 62 said Delgado “was the victim of an unprovoked attack by an individual while reporting live for Telemundo62’s 11 PM local newscast. Thankfully, she is ok and is understandably taking some time off to recover. We look forward to her return.”
