Sharyl Attkisson: Benghazi Was ‘Textbook Case of Narrative Being Managed’

Veteran award-winning investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson sat down in-studio with Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM host Stephen K. Bannon on Wednesday to discuss, among other topics, the Benghazi Committee Report released Tuesday.

Said Attkisson of Full Measure News:

I think this was a textbook case of a narrative being managed. There were all kinds of sporadic investigations that weren’t allowed to do a complete job along the way. The media was waiting around to hear whatever the spin was from whomever rather than do their own investigations. Remember, a lot of this evidence that was spun as partisan came from insiders in the Obama administration — Democrats, who supported Hillary Clinton…. These were very good sources that were turning evidence and giving testimony, but this was successfully spun by a lot of powers and with the media’s help as purely partisan.

Attkisson pointed to a similar theme impacting reporting around Britain’s recent Brexit vote.

“The Brexit vote was something that was covered extraordinarily differently depending on who you listen to,” she said, adding:

EU journalists told me, if you are reporting topics that are off narrative, the powers that be will make sure they controversialize the reporters, chase them out of mainstream, and you will never hear that view. They knew back then, several weeks ago, at least they told me and showed me polls that indicated the sentiment was moving toward the exit. They weren’t surprised at all. But in this country and in other parts of Europe, everybody reacted with shock and awe perhaps because the narrative was being controlled. They didn’t really have their finger on the pulse of what was really happening with half the country.
