The shooting of an intruder who “pushed through the door” of a home on July 2 has been ruled “justified” by the District Attorney in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.

According to 11 News, 21-year-old Brandan Vallies was trying to enter the home in “the early hours,” and the homeowner warned him to leave. Vallies did not comply, “pushed through the door,” and the homeowner shot him in the stomach.

The District Attorney ruled that “the shooting falls in line with the castle doctrine,” calling it “justified.”

CBS Pittsburgh reported that Vallies’ injuries were not life-threatening.
