A day after the deaths of three police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a photo of two small children praying for the safe return of their police officer father is going viral.
The photo posted to social media by the Indianapolis Metro Police Department features the two children dressed in parts of their father’s uniform, kneeling in prayer next to Daddy’s police cruiser.
The moving image is accompanied by a caption that reads, “Praying their father and all police officers return home safely.”
Just as the photo appeared, the department reported that it is investigating threats against its officers posted to various social media accounts.
Metro Police Chief Troy Riggs also noted his officers are being trained in recognizing and reacting to ambush attacks.
“We have sent out a one hour course on ambush awareness and preparation,” Riggs said. “I have also sent out a couple memos reminding officers about safety of their family and having a plan in the event of an issue at your home in light of what happened to one of our officers.”
