The Associated Press has declared Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto the winner of the Nevada Senate race. Cortez Masto beat Congressman Joe Heck to claim the Senate seat vacated by retiring Senate Minority leader Harry Reid.

Republican Joe Heck and Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto were competing for the Senate seat vacated by Reid in Nevada.

Heck is underperforming Trump in the Real Clear Politics average of polls with just a 1.4-point advantage. Heck was booed and jeered after rescinding his endorsement of Trump shortly after the release of the Access Hollywood tape showing Trump making lewd comments more than a decade ago.

Based on his voting record as a Congressman, Heck scores near the bottom of conservative scorecards. Heck is underperforming Trump by about 20,000 votes with about 34 percent of the vote being reported.
