A mother under attack shot and killed a sword-wielding suspect to save herself and her teenage son Friday.
According to WCNC, Kim Badger of Charlotte, North Carolina, heard the suspect trying to enter the home “in broad daylight” and met him with a baseball bat.
Though hit with the bat, he was not deterred and eventually made his way to the kitchen, where he grabbed a knife, she said.
Badger added, “He grabbed the knife [that] was on the counter and we wrestled over that.”
Reportedly, her teenage son then engaged the suspect and joined the fight. The son soon found himself wrestling to keep a sword out of the attacker’s hands, while his mother retrieved her gun.
Badger said, “I tried to say ‘I have a gun [and] please leave,’ but he kept coming at me. My son and him were wrestling over a sword and he came at me with a sword so I had to shoot him.”
Charlotte police identified the deceased suspect as 32-year-old Phuc Hong Doan.
