An Arkansas women has suffered horrendous first and second degree burns all across her body after receiving an electrical shock from climbing an electrical tower in a desperate attempt to escape a pursuing rapist.

Little Rock, Arkansas, resident Rachel Adams received the burns as she ran from Courvoisiea Allen whom Adam says had attempted to rape her after giving her a ride home.

Adams said she was surprised by the incident because they knew each other and Allen had given her rides before with no problems.

Last October Adams alleges that she took a ride in Allen’s truck only to have him pull a knife on her and demand she give him oral sex. “At that point I knew my life was in danger,” Adams has testified, according to NBC affiliate KARK.

The victim says she jumped out of the vehicle and ran toward an electrical substation with Allen in pursuit.

To escape Allen, Adam said she climbed the substation tower but not fast enough to get away from the would-be rapist’s grasp. When he pulled on her foot, Allen says she flailed out and ended up grabbing a part of the tower that had a live current running through it.

“The pain was indescribable,” Adams said of the current that coursed through her body.

Ultimately, the woman noted that the physical scars are not as bad as the mental scars she would have suffered if her rapist had succeeded in abusing her. But she insists she isn’t going to be a victim.

As for being a victim, Adams said, “I am, but I don’t want to live my life as one.”

Allen was arrested and charged with attempted rape and other crimes. He was released on $50,000 bail and will next appear in court in May.
