A Pennsylvania daycare worker is facing charges after video allegedly captured the worker pushing a four-year-old girl down a flight of stairs.

A camera installed 30 minutes before the incident reportedly captured footage of Sarah Gable, 52, of Folcroft, whom police say pushed the child down the steps at around 5:15 p.m. Friday at Childcare of the Future in Primos, WPVI reported.

The video shows the girl at the top of the stairs when she is pushed down a flight of approximately six steps, seemingly out of the blue.

Gable appears to follow the girl down the steps, helps her up, then looks straight into the camera.

The child sustained a knee injury but was not seriously hurt. She returned to the day care, the Associated Press reported.

Police said as soon as the daycare owner found out about the incident, Gable was fired from her job and police were called.

“I was so upset. It just hurt me. We don’t treat children here like that. So, it was like, ‘Why would you do that? Why would you push a child down the steps.’ And the way she did it was just so carelessly as if she’d been doing it,” said Shawayne Tavares, the daycare administrator who was monitoring the new camera.

Gable was charged with simple assault, harassment, and endangering the welfare of the child. She was released on $25,000 secured bond.
