WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump told reporters on Wednesday afternoon that he would announce “very soon” whether the United States will leave the Paris Climate Agreement and that he is hearing from “a lot of people, both ways” on the matter.
Trump was heading into a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc when reporters asked if the U.S. will be exiting the 2015 Paris Accord and if he had made a decision on it yet. The President responded, “very soon.”
Pressed on if he was leaning toward leaving the accord, Trump said, “You’re going to find out very soon.”
Trump recently stated that he will make an announcement this week on whether the U.S. will remain in the Paris Climate Agreement or get out.

Reporters asked whether Trump has been hearing from CEOs and others attempting to persuade him on the accord. The President responded, “I’m hearing from a lot of people, both ways. Both ways.”
Reports began surfacing last week that President Trump had informed multiple allies, including EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, that he intends to remove the United States from the Paris Climate Accord.
At the G7 Summit in Italy last week, President Trump refused to ratify the Paris Accord despite pressure from some G7 leaders.
