The Skittles candy company’s colorless campaign, meant to celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month, is being bashed and called a “poorly veiled white supremacist” stunt by social media users.
Skittles ditched it’s iconic colorful rainbow bags and released an ad that said: “During Pride, only one rainbow matters. So, we’ve given up ours to show our support.”
A portion of the profits from each bag of fruit-flavored candy (purchased exclusively at Tesco grocery stores) will go to LGBT charities, the company said.
But the ad campaign was slammed on social media, with several offended users equating the company’s use of an all-white bag and candies to white supremacy.
Skittles went and pissed me off with this poorly veiled white supremacist pride candy shit.

"All the lentils are white in celebration of Pride." Sooooooo to celebrate equality they make white skittles…. how is that not racist?

We will never have nor want whiteness!! pic.twitter.com/zatBSbSNDA

Skittles realized how white/capitalist PRIDE was becoming and wanted to join in the efforts. Interesting. https://t.co/HIHZDYslxN

Last year, the Mars Inc. brand celebrated Pride month by handing out bags of the limited-edition black-and-white bags filled with white Skittles to the thousands of revelers who attended the Pride parade in London.
