VA. Gov. Terry McAuliffe Calls Trump a ‘Goofball’ Over ‘Looney Tunes’ Tweets Praising Ed Gillespie

Virginia Democrat Governor Terry McAuliffe called President Donald Trump a “goofball” over his “Looney Tunes” tweets praising Ed Gillespie on Tuesday.

Gov. McAuliffe decided to trash the president after voting in the Virginia gubernatorial election on Tuesday.

McAuliffe whined, “This is Looney Tunes with President Trump. Stop tweeting. Do your job!”

“He’s acting like a goofball,” Governor McAuliffe added. “He’s sitting over there in Asia tweeting, get your work done! Leave us alone here in Virginia.”

President Trump praised Ed Gillespie in a series of tweets on Tuesday, arguing that Gillespie will make Virginia a safer place and grow the local economy.

Trump tweeted, “@EdWGillespie will totally turn around the high crime and poor economic performance of VA. MS-13 and crime will be gone. Vote today, ASAP!”

The president added, “Ralph Northam will allow crime to be rampant in Virginia. He’s weak on crime, weak on our GREAT VETS, Anti-Second Amendment and has been horrible on Virginia economy. Vote @EdWGillespie today!”

On Monday, President Trump tweeted, “The state of Virginia economy, under Democrat rule, has been terrible. If you vote Ed Gillespie tomorrow, it will come roaring back!”

Multiple polls revealed that Ed Gillespie has a slight lead over his Democratic opponent Ralph Northam.

Ralph Northam remains engulfed in controversy after he flip-flopped in favor of banning sanctuary cities. Virginia campaign finance reports revealed that the Democratic gubernatorial campaign coordinated with the Latino Victory Fund to run an ad that featured an Ed Gillespie supporter attempting to run down minority children.

Another poll from Monmouth University revealed that 41 percent of Virginians believe that Gillespie would do a better job handling the economy, compared to 29 percent who felt that only Northam was strong on creating jobs. Forty percent of Virginia residents believe that only Gillespie can handle crime, while only 24 percent believe that only Northam can deal with crime.

Democrats across the nation and in the state of Virginia are increasingly worried about Northam’s chances of winning the gubernatorial election.

Virginia Republican Lt. gubernatorial candidate Jill Vogel said that Tuesday’s election will “define the future of Virginia for a generation.”
