Sources told NBC News and CNN that President Trump’s former bodyguard Keith Schiller told lawmakers in a closed interview that he rejected an offer to have five Russian women sent to Trump’s hotel room.
The reports say that Schiller told them that after a meeting before the Miss Universe Pageant in Moscow in 2013, a Russian participant offered to send five women to Trump’s hotel room, but that he responded, “We don’t do that type of stuff.”
Schiller said on Thursday he told Trump about the conversation later that night as he accompanied Trump to his room, they laughed about it, and Trump went to bed alone, with Schiller standing outside of Trump’s door for a time before going to his own room.
One source told NBC News that Schiller “could not say for sure what happened during the remainder of the night.” But two sources told NBC News that Schiller “testified he was confident nothing happened.”
The leaks from the interview appear to be an attempt at corroborating a salacious claim in the Trump dossier that he had hired Russian prostitutes to perform a “Golden Showers” show in front of him on a bed that then-President Obama and his wife slept in.
A source familiar with Schiller’s interview told Breitbart News that his testimony actually “totally contradicts the salacious account of Trump’s hotel stay in the Steele dossier.”
The dossier was created by ex-British spy Christopher Steele, who was hired by Fusion GPS after the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Convention paid the firm to conduct opposition research on Trump and his ties to Russia.
Schiller was interviewed on Tuesday by the House intelligence committee, which is probing allegations of Russian meddling in the election, as well as any potential collusion with the Trump campaign.
Schiller’s comments came after being questioned about the dossier, which he “adamantly disputed,” and that his reaction to being asked about the dossier’s claim was, “Oh my God, that’s bull—-,” according to NBC News.
Schiller also said he and Trump were aware of the risk that hotel rooms in Moscow could be set up to capture hidden video.
Schiller’s lawyer Stuart Sears told NBC News “the versions of Mr. Schiller’s testimony being leaked to the press are blatantly false and misleading. ”
“We are appalled by the leaks that are coming from partisan insiders from the House Intelligence Committee,” Sears said.
“It is outrageous that the very Committee that is conducting an investigation into leaks — purportedly in the public interest — is itself leaking information and defaming cooperative witnesses like Mr. Schiller,” he said.
“The Chairman and Ranking Member should investigate and hold accountable whoever is responsible for leaking false and misleading versions of Mr. Schiller’s testimony. This conduct is indefensible and calls into question the credibility and motives of the Committee’s investigation,” he said.
